Skills Presentation...

This is just a small taster of my group presentation for Skills, i was pretty worried about this presentation as well, because it was due to be infront of some of the Architecture students not just Landscape..However i feel that even thought we missed one group member through illness we did a good job!

Kew Gardens visit!!!!

It was pretty cold when we visited Key Gardens, i didn't like that aspect of things! However i enjoyed the area itself a lot, and even though i live so close to it i had never been. It was a very good experience for me as i observed a lot when i was there and learnt of a lot of different plants! The different parts that they were trying to restore to their natural state was also interesting for me. I found it aesthetically pleasing and wouldn't mind going back.

So what did i come up with...

Unfortunately i do not have any pictures of my design, my camera has decided to act stupid! But ill try my best to describe it to you..I felt i needed to design a square that fulfilled several things, a place for people to walk without disruption or hassle, an area that people can embrace on their breaks and any other time really, and to have an area that was a nice sight! I feel i fulfilled my brief..I used the 5 sense aspect to make 5 capsules that are based around each sense! The textures, smells...set each one apart. Together with this there was an elevated area that let people walk around the square without being disturbed or annoyed!

Site visit...

So we went to see the site today, its kind of dull! Not a surprise there then. This project is about our perception of public space so its starting to get serious already! We had to take into consideration the senses when exploring the site today, this was definately interesting, not somehting that i had considered before. Now from our field trip and observation we are to create a new and dynamic public square..

Will these projects ever finish?!

So were pretty fresh from finishing our last project and they dropped another one on us! I knew uni was gonna be on a whole new level but i thought they would have gone a bit easier on us in our 1st semester atleast!!! Neway thats besides the point! This is the last project before christmas, might as well just work hard and get it out of the way..

So there is my design proposal..ok ok i no the model is pretty rubbish but it was my first attempt at making one, go easy on me! Dont really need to say much, the blue bits represent water! There is an elevated bridge like structure taking you from the entry points to the main grounds, i liked this the most...

I think they liked it...

So i spent the last week trying to make my design proposal more original and groundbreaking! I incorporated an elevated area to go with the slope to the reservoir which worked well, on top of this i considered everything i was told was rubbish with my last design and improved it..i freed up a lot of space, my kids area became a lot more up to date with organic and much nicer play features. But i fink the most successful part of this design is the entry to the park, upon arrival you are forced to take the bridge over the water..i felt this tied in nicely with the reservoir and was bold enough to bring something to the boring park that lied there before.

Epic Space Part B

We got the second part of this project a little while ago and the brief seems fairly straight forward. They wanted us to propose a design concept for the part adjacent to the reservoir. I thought easy! But i was sooo wrong. i just thought of a few simple things and jotted them down, without considering the things the area needed or the originality in my design overall. I didn't think of the more recent movements of the things i was proposing and the whole idea was awful. After this was all told to me by Ed and Bridget i was forced to rethink my whole idea...But that kicked me into place. I started to consider something different and more original!

Guilford trip...

This is a photo of a swan in the canal when we were on the Way & Arunn. I thought it looked really nice so i just took a picture out of nowhere!

Ed! on his mobile, duno who he was talking to though! This was taken on our way back from town one day, what a long and tiring walk dat was...
Unfortunately they are the only photos that i have from the trip, my memory card decided to go AWOL and as soon as i put it in my laptop to save the pictures it told me i needed to format as they were corrupt, SHOCKING!

Epic space!

So we got the Part A for this project, seems kind of interesting..again though nothing like i imagined, what a random site to be honest! i guess not really but I'm just not used to this yet so seems kind of odd to me, all part of the development, right? i felt because of its position, and link to water i should have some kind of giant water feature! Unfortunatly i didnt make a model for this part of the project. Its a shame would have been interesting to see how it would look at the site...

Prep for Presentation!

so our 1st presentation is tomorrow, to be honest I'm kinda worried! I hate presentations...but my groups pretty well prepared i feel we are gonna do well! we decided on a feature that could be used as a stage area for outdoor presentation or plays..plus u could use the area as seating or shelter! This is a photograph of our model! After visiting the site and seeing the kind of things around it like Swans we decided that would be a good starting point, u can see the idea was much evolved but still has a feel of wings surrounding you...

Walk around kingston

We were in studio today and after doing some work, Ed and Bridget decided we should go for a walk along the river where our projects are supposed to be..From this little walk/visit we were able to determine exactly where we wanted our sculpture to be and see the characteristics of its surroundings! This was really help full...

1st project: Word association!

So as i said already we recieved out 1st project brief..seems interesting, we have been given a word and are asked to base our project around this word! They are expecting us to create some kinda of sculture or form that can be used on a daily basis for various activities. We have started to get some words associated to our word onto paper and brain storm..lets see how it goes....

First studio project!

So we are getting stuck in pretty soon! To be honest im surprised..i thought our first project would be individual so we can show what we are capable of, but it turned out to be group work! Good shout by the teachers though, it helped me really understand what Landscape Architecture really is and the different outlooks people have on it....

I thought i knew most of the interesting sites in London but i was mistaken for sure! Im going to make alot more effort to attend these days in the future...

Creating a blog!

Wow i have to create a blog, now that aint something everyone gets to do for university work..i wonder how i find the experience, should be fun though, but i guess you guys are stuck with my odd opinions on different things! You guys should be able to get to know me a bit better after this.....
